STUDIO IENA is a high-end, Paris-based interior design agency run by two artistic directors, Corine Servonnat and Aurélie Prieur-Drevon.

Right from the beginning, the project was fuelled by the strong desire to create exceptional living spaces for both French and international clients. Now, its activity is mainly focused on the home market, the hotel industry, corporate headquarters, VIP areas, and any rare, top-of-the-range, or atypical project. However, the Studio Iéna team expresses itself with the same level of requirements and just as much passion when it comes to tight budgets: collective housing, shops, offices, coworking spaces.

One of our priorities is to listen to our clients’ expectations and adapt to their own personalities, so we engage a meaningful dialogue with them and create an exclusive place, in line with their own identities, and with a unique signature.

We write our stories from the very first sketches. Programme, budget, function, ergonomics, technique... These stories take into account all parameters throughout our projects, while sticking to the initial promise, that of a place where the pleasures of life come naturally.

Corine and Aurélie talk about STUDIO IENA

How was Studio Iéna born?

Corine

It was founded in 2013 as part of Bouygues Rénovation Privée, which specialises in the renovation of heritage sites. Studio Iéna focuses on the design of prestigious projects. The large wine storehouse at Château Montrose, near Bordeaux, in France, marked the origin of the studio. Later came various projects for private mansions, luxury Parisian flats, villas and castles in France and around the world, as well as hotels and embassies in Paris... As the Artistic Director of Studio Iéna since the beginning, I have been able to contribute the expertise I acquired on highly demanding, top-of-the-range projects in a variety of sectors. Meeting Aurélie was a pivotal moment. Our sensibilities and complementary professional backgrounds made our collaboration on our artistic projects a natural and fruitful move. That is how we took over in 2022 and carried on with Studio Iéna’s activities, independently of the major building group.

Aurélie

I joined Studio Iéna after a long experience in several interior design agencies, where I had the opportunity to work on very ambitious projects, particularly in the Middle East. I have also worked in the retail sector for some of the big names of the perfumes and cosmetics industry. Through our shared passion, Corine and I have built up a great relationship based on trust and high standards. What we want is to develop the same type of relationship with our clients, based on active listening.

How would you define the spirit and style of Studio Iéna?

Aurélie

The agency stands out because it is keen to respect the expectations, culture, tastes, and psychology of its clients through a signature style we freely express. We have both always been fuelled by the desire to understand them and craft architectural projects that reflect their own identities, in line with their daily lives and needs. Perhaps this dimension of our trade is what drives us the most!

Corine

While Aurélie and I adapt our style with great flexibility to customize each project, we share the same aesthetic vision. We give priority to the purity of the architectural designs and to the search for perfect balance, the succession of perspectives providing rhythm, boldness, and surprise. I grew up with two main inspirations: the Bauhaus, especially during my studies, and the architecture of Versailles, the city where I was born! Far from paradoxical, they actually complete each other. Such classicism obviously made me very aware of this French elegance I love to refer to. Also, I try to perfectly embrace the specifications, including the functional and ergonomics requirements, and to give rise to a line, an outline, a style. That is a main concern for me.

What influences and defines your relationship with architecture?

Aurélie

To make it short, for me it would be the harmony that I seek, both in general, in my daily life, and in my architectural language. This quest for harmony is undoubtedly what drives me towards the arts, which is where I mainly find inspiration: opening myself up to painting and the living arts, breathing in the works of artists... This is an inexhaustible resource.

Corine

I obviously agree with Aurélie, though I would add that I am fascinated by correspondences, as Baudelaire described them. Imagining that colours, sounds, and sensations respond to each other, that a painter’s touch has so much to do with the personality of a composer, makes me particularly sensitive to the multiple facets of an architectural project. As an opera fan, I am enthralled by staging. It is a source of inspiration because it results from the dialogue between the arts.

How do you start a project?

Aurélie

We start by imagining a concept together. Our discussions are based on healthy teamwork: we confront ideas throughout the creative process. Corine plays a crucial role at the start: she defines its organisation as a plan and draws the main architectural outlines that make up the first sketches. For my part, I create a universe by crafting a style using lighting atmospheres to beautify the balance and dynamics of lines and shapes, as well as the harmony of colours, materials, and patterns. The furniture, objects, and works of art are also an essential, delicate part of a project. They mark its culmination and give it a soul. We also achieve uniqueness by creating singular pieces of furniture.

Corine

Our success in a project mainly lies in the strong architectural vision we express to our clients, and in their trust. It is a long way from the first pencil strokes to completing a building site. We make sure we both master all technical aspects through a close collaboration with the design offices and contractors, and expertly manage the projects to ensure they are carried out to perfection, in line with the design.
